Welspun Corp told the exchanges that its US subsidiary, Welspun Tubular LLC, won an order worth about ₹5,500 crore from an unnamed midstream energy company to supply coated line pipe for a natural-gas pipeline in the Permian region. The pipeline will serve a data-centre complex run by an unnamed hyperscale technology company. The pipe will be made at Welspun's US plant during FY29.
Why it matters for listed companies
The order shows AI data-centre spending reaching Indian suppliers through the power behind it: on-site gas generation needs new pipelines, and US-made pipe avoids import tariffs. Welspun puts its global order book at about $5.25 billion (nearly ₹50,000 crore), its highest. The revenue lands in FY29, so it does not affect the next few quarters. Other Indian pipe and steel makers with US plants sell into the same buildout.

The close shows where a higher policy rate was priced first: capital-heavy metal producers (Hindalco, JSW Steel, Tata Steel) and borrowers' purchases such as vehicles and homes, where loan costs feed straight into…
