In the last session, yesterday, the Nifty 50 closed at 22,232, down 1.6 percent, the Nifty Bank closed at 54,515, down 1.0 percent and the Nifty Midcap 150 closed at 21,312, down 2.4 percent. On NSE, 333 stocks rose and 2,578 fell.

Foreign portfolio investors sold a net 12,944 crore rupees and domestic institutions bought a net 10,703 crore rupees in the cash market, by provisional exchange data.

Among stocks that traded at least five crore rupees, the biggest gainers were Indokem, up 19.3 percent, Brooks Laboratories, up 18.2 percent and Fino Payments Bank, up 13.0 percent; the biggest fallers were Inox Green Energy Services, down 15.3 percent, Share India Securities, down 10.3 percent and Jindal Supreme India, down 10.0 percent.
