Pilani Investment and Industries Corporation, a promoter group company, sold a 0.85% stake in UltraTech Cement worth Rs 2,896.3 crore through block deals, out of the 1.50% it held as of June 2026. HDFC Mutual Fund led the buying with Rs 1,500 crore and ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund bought Rs 400 crore. Separately, Thyrocare Technologies promoter Docon Technologies sold a 9.9% stake worth Rs 986 crore.
Why it matters for listed companies
Promoter-group sales add free float and near-term supply in UltraTech shares, but heavy mutual fund buying shows domestic institutions absorbing it, and the stake sold is a small part of the promoter group's holding, so control is unchanged. For Thyrocare, a near-10% promoter sale is a much bigger shift in ownership. For Pilani Investment, a holding company, the sale turns part of its UltraTech stake into cash.
