Jio Platforms, the telecom and digital arm of Reliance Industries, is reported to be planning to file its red herring prospectus in the week starting October 12, with the public offer opening before October 23 and trading beginning by the end of the month. The issue is put at about USD 3.8 billion (roughly Rs 37,700 crore): 27 crore new shares and no offer for sale, with the money going to repay Jio Infocomm debt and for general corporate purposes. No price band or official dates have been announced.
Why it matters for listed companies
At that size it would be the largest IPO India has seen, and the first from the Reliance group since 2008. Reliance holds 66.4% of Jio Platforms and Meta and Google together 17.7%; because the issue is entirely new shares, none of them sells, and the proceeds reduce debt at the telecom unit. Jio Platforms reported FY26 revenue of Rs 1,46,885 crore and profit of Rs 30,053 crore. An issue this large draws on the same pool of institutional and retail money as the rest of the October calendar, at a time when foreign investors have been net sellers. The timetable is a press report until the prospectus is filed.
