French car-parts maker Forvia and the Anand Group signed an agreement to set up Faurecia Anand Seating India Private Limited, which will make seat frames and complete seats for vehicle manufacturers in India. Forvia will own 50% plus one share and control the venture; Gabriel India, Anand's listed flagship, will own 50% minus one share. Forvia set a first milestone of about 10% of India's seating market within five years. Closing is planned by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. No investment or revenue figures were given.
Why it matters for listed companies
For Gabriel India, known for shock absorbers and other ride-control parts, the venture adds a second product line, though as a minority holder it will not consolidate the seating revenue. For Forvia, India is named as a growth market in its strategy and the company won its first complete-seat programme there a few months ago; the two groups have worked together on exhaust systems since 1991. Seating is one of the larger-value items bought by car makers, so a new supplier with a global parent competes for contracts with the existing Indian seat makers. With no figures disclosed and closing still ahead, the near-term effect on either company's results is small.
