Adani Enterprises announced the sale of a 5.54% stake in Adani Airport Holdings (AAHL) for Rs 9,825 crore, about $1 billion, to a consortium of Alpha Wave Global, Premji Invest, Temasek and BlackRock-managed funds, at a pre-money equity valuation of about $18 billion. The investors are to subscribe to new AAHL shares in three tranches, the last due by July 2027, with proceeds earmarked for airport expansion, airport-city projects and non-aeronautical businesses such as ground handling. Adani Enterprises rose 6.08% to Rs 3,132.90; it had gained 31.85% in 2026 up to the prior close.
Why it matters for listed companies
The deal puts an outside price on India's largest private airport operator and funds its expansion with new equity rather than more debt, easing capital demands on Adani Enterprises. The roughly $18-billion valuation is a reference point for the value of Adani Enterprises' incubated businesses and for listed airport and infrastructure peers such as GMR Airports. Because the money comes in as new AAHL shares, Adani Enterprises' stake is diluted rather than sold for cash.
