Glossary

Price band

The range within which bids are accepted in a book-built IPO.

The company sets a lower and an upper price; investors bid within that range. The final issue price is fixed after the book closes, and in practice is almost always the upper end. Retail investors can bid at the "cut-off", meaning whatever the final price turns out to be.
