Volare Shipping, the crude-tanker owner set up by commodity trader Trafigura, was admitted to Euronext Growth Oslo on October 5 under the ticker VLCC, with a reference price of NOK 154 a share. The listing follows a private placement of about 30.7 million new shares at that price, raising roughly $500 million and valuing the equity at around $1.2 billion after the money, according to trade publication Riviera. The company owns six very large crude carriers and has eight more on order for delivery between 2026 and 2028.
Why it matters for listed companies
The listing gives Oslo another pure owner of very large crude carriers alongside the established tanker names, with earnings tied to spot freight rates that have been lifted by the disruption to oil flows from West Asia. Trafigura keeps commercial management of the ships, so the trader gains outside capital for a fleet that carries its own and others' cargoes. Proceeds go to the newbuilding programme, lease debt and working capital. Shipyards and lenders are on the other side of the eight vessel orders.
