Silex Microsystems, a MEMS foundry based in Järfälla near Stockholm, began trading on Nasdaq Stockholm after an IPO priced at SEK 81 a share that raised about SEK 2 billion (roughly $220 million). Bloomberg called it the strongest open for a sizeable European IPO in almost five years; cornerstone investors took most of the shares and the order book was covered several times. The offer combined new shares with shares sold by a subsidiary of Sai MicroElectronics.
Why it matters for listed companies
The debut showed strong investor demand for European semiconductor manufacturing capacity, a positive signal for other technology companies in the Nordic IPO pipeline and for Nasdaq Stockholm as a listing venue. Listed specialty-chip makers such as STMicroelectronics and Infineon are the closest comparisons for valuation. The direct effect on other share prices is small.
