Reliance Industries' consolidated net profit attributable to shareholders fell 22.4% to Rs 20,946 crore in April-June from Rs 26,994 crore, mainly because other income dropped 70.6% to Rs 4,447 crore; the year-ago quarter included Rs 8,924 crore from selling listed investments. Revenue from operations rose 25.4% to Rs 3.12 trillion and segment EBITDA rose 9.9% to Rs 51,403 crore. Oil-to-chemicals revenue jumped 30.4% to Rs 2.02 trillion with EBITDA up 17.2%, digital services EBITDA rose 16.1%, and retail EBITDA slipped 1.1% to Rs 6,309 crore.
Why it matters for listed companies
Reliance is one of the largest index weights, so its results move the benchmarks. Higher crude prices inflated O2C revenue and the 17% rise in that unit's EBITDA shows refining earnings holding up through the West Asia disruption, while telecom growth ahead of the Jio IPO supports the digital valuation. Flat retail profit is a read-through for listed retailers. The headline profit fall reflects a one-off gain in the base rather than weaker operations.
