Mistral previews Large 4, a 1-trillion-parameter model trained in its own European data centres, at $1.36 per million input tokens

What happened

Paris-based Mistral AI put its Large 4 model into public preview on October 6. The company describes a multimodal model with 1 trillion parameters, 49 billion of them active at a time, trained on 3,800 Nvidia Grace Blackwell GPUs in Mistral's own European data centres. It is priced at $1.36 per million input tokens and $4.18 per million output tokens, and Mistral says the model weights are to be published by the end of October. A dedicated European deployment runs under European law.

Why it matters for listed companies

The finance angle is price and ownership of the hardware. $1.36 and $4.18 per million tokens is the rate European companies and public bodies can now compare with US model providers, and open weights let them run the model on their own servers instead of paying per token. The training used 3,800 Nvidia GPUs that Mistral operates itself, paid for from the €3 billion Series D the company cites, so the spending reached Nvidia and European data-centre operators. Mistral is private; no revenue figure was given.
