Porsche plans about 20% higher prices on its top models by 2030, a break-even under 200,000 cars and 9,000 job cuts by 2035

EU Consumer Discretionary

What happened

Porsche set out a 'value over volume' plan under chief executive Michael Leiters. The average price of its most expensive models is to go from about €270,000 to more than €330,000 by 2030, and those models are to make up 45% of the range instead of a third. The company aims to break even below 200,000 cars a year, cut development costs and the number of variants by 20% each, and shed 9,000 jobs by 2035, about a fifth of the workforce. Targets are an operating margin of 10-15% by 2030 and 15% by 2035; no electric 911 is planned.

Why it matters for listed companies

Deliveries fell from 320,000 in 2023 to 279,449 in 2025 and the operating margin from 18% to 1.1%, so the plan resets the company around fewer, dearer cars. That reaches Volkswagen, its controlling shareholder, through consolidated profit, and German suppliers through lower volumes and fewer variants to engineer. The shift to two petrol or plug-in hybrid cars for each electric one, with a new combustion Macan in 2028, also changes battery and platform orders. The margin goals are the company's own targets for 2030 and 2035.
